EWE Arena Oldenburg

The new EWE Arena Oldenburg is an integral part of the “Weser-Ems-Halle” exhibition center. The arena is the cornerstone for a complete redevelopment of the exhibition center's previously neglected southern part.
Depending on the type of event the arena has a 3000-4000 spectator capacity. Events to be hosted include major league basketball and handball games as well as concerts and stage productions.
A remarkable feature of the building is the moveable photovoltaic rig that is integrated into the facade of the spectator concourse. Since opening in June 2005 the building already received numerous prestigious awards:

- BDA (Association of German Architects) Award Lower Saxony 2006 – Short list
- Federal Photovoltaic Award 2006
- German Solar Award 2006 – Distinction
- Cityscape Award of the City of Oldenburg 2006
